The Art and Emma Band played the Corona Ballroom on Wednesday and Saturday nights after the Derheim Brothers retired in 1964?? .Art and Emma Heckenliable were the heart of the Derheim Brothers Orchestra so it was natural that they would continue to play the ballroom. They are pictured in this photo with Joey Reeder on bass , Leroy Hammel on guitar and the always present Joe Boschee on fiddle. ( See Joe Boschee, Ray and Wayne Spackman , Harry Heckenliable) )

A great posed photo of Art Heckenliable circa 1965?? Art ran Art’s Band at the Corona Ballroom in 1965 up to his passing in 1966 after having worked with the Derheim Brothers for a number of years. The residency at the Corona began about 1960 with the Derheim Brothers then the Art and Emma Band leading to Art’s Band. That’s a very long to time to perform at the same venue.

The Derheim Brothers played old time country music every Wednesday and Saturday in the Corona Ballroom for several years around 1960 to 1964  and they had a great following  that loved to dance to their music.   Pictured here are Art and Emma Heckenliable, who formed the nucleus of the group along with  Dave Derheim, accordian, and Hank Derheim, banjo. Even after the Derheims left the city the Heckenliables continued the residency for several more years. The fact that they played year round, twice a week in the same room says something for how popular they were at the time.
