Dick Van Riper was a very popular guitarist in the late 50s and early 60s and one of the few guys with a Fender Stratocaster. He worked extensively with Len Sharland , the German Harmony Band, as well as many other combinations of players. Behind him, in the upper rather grainy photo, is the bass drum of his younger brother Doug with the logo ” Renegades” and this dates the picture to about 1962. The other picture is much cleaner and somewhat later. (Also see John Fyke)
This is a photo of the Harmony Band with Dick van Riper on guitar. The band has been around and active for over 50 years with numerous players having worked under the name.
