Drummer Len Sharland, along with Bob Sailer, was the spark behind the very popular band EVENING REIGN, which performed together for about six years from 1969 through 1975. After serving in the Navy, Bob Sailer returned to Medicine Hat and played with the Embers ( John Fyke, Archie Bertram, Bill Shire) and The Med Hatters and then in the late 60s started a group called the Modernaires which became The Evening Reign. Members included Harry Post on sax, the Bauman?? brothers on trumpets ( See John Fyke), Bob Sailer on trumpet, Dick van Riper on guitar ( See Dick van Riper), Owen Gottselig on guitar.
This is Bob Sailer on trumpet with Stan Weiler on tenor sax (see Alex Shand , Kiwanis Band). Bob became a co founder of Evening Reign. Not sure of when this was taken but I suspect it was in the late 50s??
The Evening Reign with Harry Post (sax), Len Sharland (drums), Bob Sailer (trumpet), Owen Gottselig (guitar) about 1970. Harry Post spent much of the 60s running between Holland, his country of birth, and Medicine Hat. He ran a very successful tailor shop on 3rd Street and actually made custom suits for The Cavaliers at one time.( See The Cavaliers at Henderson Lake…cool green suits!!)
The Evening Reign doing their best to look like a Mexican band ( bad quality photo but…) Harry Post, Bob Sailer, Len Sharland, Owen Gottselig.
