The Med Hatters consisted of a group of players that carried on the traditional big band sound of the 40s and this photo dates to around 1958??. Harold Crane( See Alex Shand) played a very instrumental role in providing a vehicle for this type of music. Front row L to R John Fyke (guitar) ….Jebb Sailor (baritone sax)…. Bob Eisenbarth (tenor sax)…. Richard Campell (tenor sax)….. Jim Crane ( alto sax)…unknown (alto sax)……..Back row L to R Marguerite Nering (piano)…. Lester Jans ( trombone)….. Don Leppard (drums) …..Ron Mehrer (Trombone)….. Clarence Heringer (trombone) ….. Harold Crane (trumpet)….. Archie Bertram (trumpet)…. Joan Mayer (vocalist). From this organization drummer Don Leppard went on to make a career of music and Marguerite Nering went on to receive a PHD in music and spent her life as a professional musician. Anyone that was associated with this group still speaks fondly of the great memories of having worked together back in the late 50s.
